Thoughts: This 3 star prospect was a nice grab for the Cards, rated as the 7th best running back out of Georgia (suck on that , #8) and the 77th best RB in the country. (I feel like the kid should be wearing #7) Cards beat out Oregon State and Colorado State for the services of Mr. Staples who once again fits into the Petrino mold for what he wants out of a running back. Kolby Smith called him a “bruiser” back on NSD but then showcased his ability to also get to the edge and maintain balance along the sidelines. It’s hard to determine at times how a high school game will translate into college but coming in as a true freshman at 6-1/214 sure doesn’t hurt. A redshirt isn’t out the question for Malik and is more than likely to occur due to the upperclassmen ahead of him on the depth chart. I fully expect Miday to put 8-10lbs on Malik by this time next year and for him to be in the mix with Scott, Smith, and the other freshman for PT in the 2017 season.
Let’s get to know Malik, in his own words…
