Less than a week after news had surfaced that Louisville had been in contact with Nebraska grad transfer Andrew White, Rick Pitino says that the Cardinals are not likely to add White or any other player before the start of the 2016-17 season.
"I don't think so," Pitino said when asked if a roster addition was possible. "We've been talking in two or three different situations since the season ended, and none have materialized very much."
Pitino went on to say that he and his staff have placed an emphasis on recruiting frontcourt players who are capable of stepping out and knocking down shots from the perimeter.
"I think the one area that we need to get better at is perimeter shooting," Pitino said. We're concentrating on that in recruiting right now, especially with bigs. It adds so much to your basketball team when fours and fives bring other big men outside the lane and allow your guards to drive the lane."
Louisville not taking White or any of the other transfers on the market likely means that the Cardinals will stick with Pitino's original plan of absorbing both of the scholarship hits in UofL's self-imposed punishment this season.
