Louisville picked to finish third in ACC's Atlantic Division

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

For the third straight year, the Louisville Cardinals have been picked by the ACC media to finish behind Clemson and Florida State in the Atlantic Division. Here's hoping U of L breaks the streak of that prognostication ultimately proving to be accurate.

On the other side of the conference, the media like North Carolina to repeat as Coastal Division champions, setting up an ACC championship game rematch between the Tar Heels and Clemson.

The preseason pick for ACC Player of the Year was also expected, as reigning champ and 2015 Heisman Trophy finalist DeSahun Watson ran away with the election. Lamar Jackson did pick up two votes.

Here are the media's complete preseason picks for the ACC in 2016:

Atlantic (first-place votes):

Clemson (148) -- 1,293

Florida State (42) -- 1,176

Louisville (1) -- 961

NC State -- 704

Boston College -- 441

Syracuse -- 426

Wake Forest -- 347

Coastal (first-place votes):

North Carolina (121) -- 1,238

Miami (50) -- 1,108

Pitt (14) -- 859

Virginia Tech (3) -- 697

Duke (2) -- 597

Georgia Tech (1) -- 588

Virginia -- 261

ACC Player of the Year

1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson -- 164

2. Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State -- 18

3. Elijah Hood, RB, North Carolina -- 4

t-4. Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami -- 2

t-4. Lamar Jackson, QB Louisville -- 2

5. DeVon Edwards, CB/KR, Duke -- 1

No word on who gave Louisville its first place vote, but when the hero unmasks themselves, I'll make sure you all are the first to know.
