#41 Ethan Adams

Class: Freshman

Ht/Wt: 6-1/239

Position: Linebacker

Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of St. Xavier High School)

Twitter: @EthanJohnAdams2

Thoughts: We found out last November that Ethan, a local product, decided to walk-on for the Cards rather than take a preferred walk-on spot for Mizzou or Illinois. Adam told Steve Jones of the CJ that he felt very underrated in the state and was excited about getting to play for UofL in a position that he considered “perfect” for his style of play.

It seems the coaching staff will look at Ethan as a defensive end/outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme. (Similar to Lozo, and now DeVonte Fields) In my opinion I think he’s just slightly undersized for that spot but as we’ve seen before, hard work and athleticism can help make up for a lot of things. I wouldn’t expect Ethan to see a ton of run in 2016 and probably 2017 either, looking at the depth chart. He could work his way into the rotation in a few years but even if he doesn’t appreciate the dedication and the “chip on the shoulder” mentality. If nothing else it appears he has the drive needed to be successful and sometimes thats half the battle. Good luck to Ethan.

#41 Ryan Betlach

Class: Junior

Ht/Wt: 5-10/193

Position: Long Snapper

Hometown: Lexington, KY

Twitter: @RyanBetlach33

Thoughts: Another long snapper recap, i.e. another glorious day in the House of CardinalStrong.

Ryan and Brendan Lowery (Day 46) appear to be the “snappers in waiting”, which sounds borderline offensive so I apologize for any and all offended. I think unless we start to see balls sailing over our punters head or landing five yards in front of him Colin Holba has this job all but sewn up for 2016. I like Lowery and think he might be the second string guy this year but Ryan does have him beat on experience since he is now entering his third season of eligibility. I’m sure Ryan, Colin, and Brendan all get plenty of practice reps throwing the ole’ pigskin through their legs at freighting speeds from multiple distances. Can you think of a better way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in July? I didn’t think so.

Good luck to Ryan this year as I’m sure he’ll be ready to go if something happens to Holba or if he starts to struggle.

Snap ‘em long, and snap ‘em straight Ryno.

I got some solid plans for you bro. Take 64 East to the Georgetown Road exit. Drive until you hit New Circle Road and follow that thing ALLLL the way around until you come back to Georgetown Road again. Hop back on 64 West and…..drive yourself back to Louisville.

Ain’t nothing good going on in Lexington man.
