Louisville baseball rolls past Cincinnati, 7-1

The fifth-ranked Louisville baseball team concluded a five-game homestand with a 7-1 rout of old conference rival Cincinnati Tuesday night at Jim Patterson Stadium. The victory brought U of L's 2016 home run record to an unreal 29-1.

Kade McClure continued to build on his tremendous sophomore season by working seven innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out four. The effort improved McClure's record to a perfect 9-0.

Catcher Will Smith was the hero at the plate, going 2 for 4 and belting his fourth home run of 2016. Blake Tiberi added a pair of RBI with a 2-run single in the first inning, while Colby Fitch and Drew Ellis each also plated runs.

Next up for the Cards is working to improve their record on the road with a three-game set at perennial powerhouse North Carolina this weekend.
