Louisville baseball wins fifth straight with 13-0 blowout of Virginia Tech

The Louisville baseball team struck for nine runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning on their way to a 13-0 rout of Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium. The victory was 5th straight for U of L, and the fourth time during that streak that the team has scored double-digit runs.

All nine Cardinal starters hit safely on Sunday, with outfielder Ryan Summers leading the barrage. The sophomore went 3-for-4 at the dish with a double and three RBI. Sophomore shortstop Devin Hairston led four other Louisville players with two hits closing the day 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored, while junior outfielder Corey Ray homered for the second straight day to highlight a 2-for-5 outing.

That was more than enough ammo for Drew Harrington, who scattered five hits over six scoreless innings on his way to improving his 2016 record to 6-1.

The fourth-ranked Cards will go for the sweep of Virginia Tech Monday night at 7 p.m. If you can't make it out to the park, the game can be seen on ESPNU.
