Corey Ray named ACC Player of the Week

From U of L:

Louisville junior outfielder Corey Ray was selected on Monday as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while Pittsburgh's Aaron Sandefur was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Week.

Ray hit .368 with three extra-base hits, including his seventh home run of the season, as well as 10 RBI and three stolen bases to lead No. 8 Louisville to a 3-1 week. In the Cardinals' series win over No. 11 Virginia, Ray hit safely in all three games and drove in eight runs as the Cardinals improved to 19-5 overall and 6-3 in the ACC. For the season, the junior outfielder from Chicago is hitting .333 with 30 RBI, 27 runs scored, eight doubles and 25 stolen bases in 28 attempts.

The honor for Ray was his second of the season after receiving the same recognition on Feb. 22 and it was the third for a Louisville player this season as sophomore Brendan McKay was named ACC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 29.

Up next, No. 4 Louisville travels to Nick Denes Field in Bowling Green, Kentucky for a midweek matchup against Western Kentucky tomorrow at 7 p.m., ET.
