Coming off the first road series loss since 2014, the Cards got back in the groove with a 9-5 win over the visiting Morehead State Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.
In a game that was pushed back from Tuesday due to weather, 6'7" sophomore pitcher Kade McClure put together his second consecutive solid outing in the midweek allowing one hit while not giving up an earned run in five innings. McClure has gone five innings in both of his starts in this early 2016 campaign allowing a combined three hits while striking out six opposing batters.
McClure was relieved by 6'6" freshman Adam Wolf on the mound who went two innings without allowing a hit and striking out two. Junior Jake Sparger went one inning allowing a hit, a run and striking out one.
After a scoreless first, the Cards got on the board with Brendan McKay scoring a run off of a wild pitch in the bottom of the second. The third inning provided RBI singles from Nick Solak and Blake Tiberi. Catcher Colby Fitch led off the fourth with a solo-HR, his second of the season, and Corey Ray added an RBI double followed by an RBI single by Logan Taylor to score Ray.
