Some of the best February weather that the city of Louisville has seen in a long time led to larger than normal opening weekend crowds to watch the #2 Cardinals take care of SIU Edwardsville this weekend. Dominance across the board was continued on Sunday afternoon as the Cards notched a 10-1 win.
Drew Harrington took full advantage of his first start of 2016 by by matching his career high for strikeouts(9) and going six scoreless while giving up three hits. Lincoln Henzman and Zack Burdi also notched a scoreless inning and two strikeouts a piece.
At the plate the Cardinals were led by the sensational Corey Ray who has now blasted a homer in consecutive days while also tallying four runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases today. Tay who has assumed the lead off role this season went 3 for 3 on the weekend in the bottom of the first with a double, homer and single. Nick Solak out of the two spot scored two runs and three RBI. Danny Rosenbaum contributed two RBI on one hit and Blake Tiberi hit a triple to go with his one RBI.
The Cards will be back in action Tuesday at Jim Patterson hosting in-state foe Eastern Kentucky before traveling to Ole Miss next weekend for a primetime out of conference series. Admission to the EKU game is free.
