Louisville baseball routs SIU-Edwardsville again, 12-0

Led by a strong performance by sophomore Brendan McKay, Louisville continued its dominance over SIU Edwardsville with a 12-0 win in game two. The reigning national freshman of the year struck out eight batters in 5 innings while only giving up 3 hits.  McKay also added a 3 run home run in an eight run 5th inning for the Cardinals.

Senior pitcher Anthony Kidston, a former weekend starter came in and struck out five in two innings of relief and redshirt freshman Chandler Dale came in in the ninth to finish the shutout.  Corey Ray got the scoring going  in the bottom of the first with a solo HR, junior outfielder Colin Lyman went 2 for 2 including a three run double, and outfielder Logan Taylor added a three run triple.

The most impressive stat of the afternoon was the attendance of roughly 3,800 today at Jim Patterson stadium, a school record for a February home game. The opening weekend weather has brought out two impressive crowds to start the season with the chance to go for a sweep coming tomorrow afternoon at 1:00. Dollar dogs are on tap for the Sunday afternoon matchup as well as on opportunity for kids to run the bases and get autographs from the players.

Drew Harrington who boasted a 3-1 record and .29 ERA last season will be on the bump for the second ranked Cards.
