Thursday evening Cardinal news and notes

That's the Cardinal banner being held high (or at waist level) at a prestigious dental clinic on Malolo Island in Fiji. I'm just guessing about the prestigious part.

I_medium I meant to mention this much earlier in the week, but since a few (3) people have asked today, the answer is yes, I won the H-O-R-S-E game last Saturday at The Caper event.

More importantly, the dude who won the auction to play me, Kevin Flores, is a fantastic human being who both supported a good cause and kept me from looking like Slater at the Saved by the Bell date auction. It was an awesome experience for an awesome cause, and I highly recommend that all of you attend the event next year.

I_medium The U of L women are back in action Thursday night at Pittsburgh. Here's your game preview.

I_medium Geron Christian, Tobijah Hughley and John Wallace have been named to the 2015 All-ACC Academic football team.

I_medium A day after being honored by the Jordan Brand Classic peeps, VJ King got some love for his status as a McDonald's All-American.

I_medium Louisville is down to No. 19 in Luke Winn's power rankings for Sports Illustrated, which are still worth your time if you have the stomach to continue watching college basketball.

I_medium Eric Crawford tackles each and every talking point from yet another eventful day in the Derby City.

I_medium Congrats to Nanu on a big sophomore season both on and off the court.

I_medium The Cards check in at No. 20 in Bill Connelly's preliminary S&P rankings for the 2016 college football season.

I_medium A Saved by the Bell themed diner is coming to Chicago, which would have been perfect if the CARDS HAD BEEN PLAYING THERE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT.

I_medium It appears that Sheldon Rankins is the only Cardinal who has been officially invited to the NFL Draft combine.

I_medium Again, laughing is good for you.

I_medium Sam Vecenie writes about the five best players on losing teams in college basketball.

I_medium John Clay of the Lexington Herald-Leader says that Louisville's postseason ban us unfair for the Cardinal players, but is fair for college basketball.

I_medium Good story here on former U of L commit Rodney Purvis, who is now at UConn.

I_medium This is incredible.

I_medium Swish Appeal examines the state of the Louisville women's team.

I_medium Jeff Walz says his goal is still to either retire at Louisville or get fired at Louisville.

I_medium Akron is giving away bobbleheads of LeBron James in an Akron uniform.

I_medium This guy needs to change his handle.

I_medium The talented group of wide receivers might be the most key component of Louisville's 2016 football recruiting class.

I_medium Coach K goes 1-on-1 with GoDuke.com about coaching against Louisville in the 1,000th game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

I_medium The Louisville lacrosse team opened its 2016 season with a win over Marquette and they'll continue the season Friday at Temple.

I_medium The biggest screwjob in college basketball this season took place last night when this buzzer-beater for Boise State was waived off, giving Colorado State the opportunity to win on their home court in double overtime.

Now the shot is obviously off before the clock expired, but the officials went to the scorer's table, timed it themselves, and determined (somehow) that it took 1.1 seconds for the shot to be released. No one else who performed that exercise with the video in front of them got that result, and if I was Broncos coach Leon Rice I probably would have gotten arrested last night.

I_medium According to Adam Zagoria, David Levitch's younger brother, Jax, is considering DePaul.

Jax Levitch, a 6-6 shooting guard from Delray Beach (FL) Elev8 Institute, is currently on a visit to Manhattan College, he told SNY.tv. Levitch is also considering Delaware, Toledo and DePaul, among others.

I_medium Please do it so I can be your coach in two years (tops).

I_medium Florida RB Jamari Peacock has received an offer from Louisville.

I_medium And finally, Notre Dame's official site previews Saturday's game against the Cards.
