Louisville beats #2 North Carolina 71-65

Louisville got its first indisputably good win of the season with a win over #2 North Carolina at the KFC Yum! Center on Big Monday. Shaking off the frustration of a poor effort on both offensive and defensive ends of the floor against Virginia, the Cardinals bounced back, especially on the defensive end. Louisville, as has been the case most of the season, was led by senior Damion Lee. Lee poured in 24 points and added 5 rebounds. Despite being hampered by foul trouble once again, Chinanu Onuaku added yet another double-double and was a physical presence against an imposing North Carolina front line.

After a season of frustrating losses to the better teams on the schedule, Louisville now has a win over a quality opponent. With so many challenging games left on the schedule like Duke, Virginia again, Miami, and Notre Dame, the Cardinals have a chance and probably now the confidence, to compile a top shelf NCAA Tournament resume and stay in contention in the ACC.
