Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville basketball team will begin the 2016-17 college hoops season ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25. The Cards were previously voted No. 14 in the preseason coaches' poll.

Duke was the AP's overwhelming choice as the nation's top team, picking up 58 of the possible 65 first-place votes. Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova and Oregon round out the top five.

In addition to the Blue Devils, ACC brethren North Carolina (6), Virginia (8) and Syracuse (19) also made appearances in the pill. The Cardinals will also play non-conference games against ranked teams in Kentucky (2), Indiana (11), Purdue (15), and potentially against No. 12 Michigan State in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
