Got an opportunity to re-watch the Auburn game today and provided my own commentary/analysis on twitter as the game unfolded. I thought I'd share over here as well for those who may not be in the twitter-sphere...
I'm re-watching the game..gonna throw out some random commentary as I go...

Won't call out a name but one O-lineman was getting beat consistently first 1.5 quarters, major disruption up front
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
2nd qtr drive by Auburn that lead to FG was well executed. Good run/pass mix, quick hitters not allowing pressure. Have to tip cap on 56ydr
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Last drive of half, sack, Petrino mad. Replay showed he had crossing route(right) 20yd deep. Prob TD, had blocker pic.twitter.com/qsLfE0Qn4I
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Next play, Jackson gets a pocket and throws a 20yd frozen rope. Just needed time.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
No breaking news here...Louisville hurt themselves in 1st half. Gave 10pts (Intercpt return field pos was at least 3, scoop and score, 7)
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
First drive of 2nd half for Auburn the UL front 7 bought on the misdirection 2 or 3 times, killed them. Easily worse drive of game for them
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Still can't believe he called him Bobby Trevino...with no correction by either.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
UL first off play of 2nd half, great o-line play, solid block from Quick, released Radcliff for nice gain.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
3 straight plays on first off drive for UL in 2nd half o-line looked really good. Nice pocket, good pulls
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Pass along the sideline to Peete was close. 20yd lob was behind him by a foot or so, Peete had to go back, lost his spot on field
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
That FG for Wallace was big. If he starts the year 0-3 and his confidence could have been shot. He'll be just fine.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
JHC hit pic.twitter.com/37X0YHIgkS
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
On the TD called back for holding looks like Tru expected help overtop from JHC. Rest of D is in zone coverage pic.twitter.com/i55iUQLOkk
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Nice pick for Tru, but was bad pass on Johnson's part. Glad to see him get that after a couple rough plays. I still really like him at CB
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
After pick, UL in danger of 3 and out and Hughley picked up stunt from LB to allow Jackson to get outside. Huge play that kept drive alive.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
This is why Crum is starter. Big block to free Radcliff. I called him my fav TE about 3 months ago. Didn't dissapoint pic.twitter.com/WWjqVzWJHF
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
The very next play Crum had the chip block that freed Jackson for the TD. His 2 blocks accounted for about 20 of the last 25yds of drive
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Just being fair...I love Burgess A LOT but didn't hear from him much first half. Made a couple nice plays in 3rd quarter.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Misdirection froze LBs again. (3 of them) Allowed RB to sneak past and get 1st down catch. pic.twitter.com/at1bFp9DjY
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Barber (Auburn RB) benefited greatly from misdirection. Lots of space around the line, first contact almost always slowed/stopped him.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Auburn shutdown any special teams magic. I think every kick was a touchback and if I remember correctly we never had a punt return.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Back to back plays on 4th qtr drive pocket was virtually non-existent. Jackson grabbed 20 yds with his elusiveness alone
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
While they weren't successful, on Lamar scramble (w/ Quick injury) glad to see O-line looking for blocks and not just standing around.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Not sure of progressions but Lamar missed Crum up the seam(9yd line) for TD. When he saw him pocket had collapsed pic.twitter.com/d2iyAnboZC
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Shotgun snap, 2 quick slants. Hand in face still made nice throw to outside receiver (Peete) who made great catch pic.twitter.com/YEsMNWVWPY
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Even though I think of Radcliff as a "run through you" type of back he had to go outside due to lack of holes up the gut. Speed impressed me
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
"Chucky Phillips, Michael Quick, Bobby Trevino"...glad these guys don't get paid a lot of money to know this stuff.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
This is the ball in flight on the dropped interception by Chucky. Would have only had line and QB to beat for pick 6. pic.twitter.com/hSaDCQqBF3
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Just noticed Crum was the guy sent to blow up wedge on the punt. I think they use him even more than I thought this yr and I was high on him
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
I think I projected 10-15 catches for Crum, he'll blow that up if he plays like Saturday.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Traveon Samuel is going to be good. Like a squirrel running around out there...crazy speed, good hands. Great catch on 4th qtr drive.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Lamar missed 20yd TD run by about half a sec. They brought 5, got him before he squeezed thru. NOBODY in front of him pic.twitter.com/W4RGU6LLzD
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
On 4th and 7...Lamar called his own number on the keep. If it's a smart play I love the confidence.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
2nd burned timeout appears to be on coaches. Lamar still looking at bench w/ 18 sec left, clock down to 10 and Petrino calls it. No play in
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Good read on DE by Lamar. Instead of trying to make a play on his own correctly gave to Radcliff;score to the right. pic.twitter.com/VPRb9rn4A0
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Fields offsides penalty was so big. Gave them another play that burned 30 seconds off clock.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Here's my 2 cents on the TO/late game strategy. The rule is dumb, because a penalty can benefit the team in error. Specific situation:(cont)
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
If you have the ball, 3rd & short with less then 2min. Hold the hell out of everyone to get 1st down. D is forced to accept penalty & (cont)
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
either watch clock run or burn a TO. Lose/Lose. Yes, its only 25sec clock, but thats a ton of time to lose because other team was in error
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Petrino still made wrong call. Should have let 25sec go, run play, used TO but no rule should benefit team in the wrong& thats what happened
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Auburn got points from UofL mistakes..Cards didn't capitalize on turnovers. Feel good heading into Houston, excited to see turnaround
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Big worry is Lamar getting worn down. Can't have him run 18-20 times a game. Radcliff/Smith/Scott need to carry some load as well.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Overall, impressed with Jacksons poise and play on big stage. Put heat on Bobby for 1st play, but Lamar has to know to tuck or throw away.
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Never happy about a loss, but as we move forward goal of ACC title, still very much alive. #GoCards
— CardinalStrong (@CardinaIStrong) September 7, 2015
Last takeaway from rewatch. Never heard Shaqs name one time...not sure he was targeted much at all. Get used to him quietly locking it down.
