Louisville football fan day is Saturday

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Just in case you weren't aware, you've got plans for tomorrow:

Celebrating the start of another athletic season, the University of Louisville will host its annual Fan Day event on Saturday, Aug. 22 at Cardinal Arena on the Belknap Campus from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Student-athletes from various UofL teams will be in attendance, including head football coach Bobby Petrino and the football team, who will be signing autographs for fans. Louie the Cardinal will also be on-hand with other members of the national champion Spirit Squads to take pictures with fans.

During the free event open to the public, fans can interact with their favorite players plus check out the activity stations, face painting and photo booths, plus kids can play on the inflatable games and win prizes.

The first 5,000 fans can pick up the third and final edition of the 2015 football schedule poster series featuring junior linebacker Keith Kelsey. The first two posters were released at area Rally's restaurants and Thorntons stores earlier this month.

Cardinal Authentic will sell merchandise in the lobby and concessions snacks also will be sold. Ticket windows are scheduled to be open to purchase tickets to all fall sports in action this fall, including football, volleyball, and men's and women's soccer.

Doors to Cardinal Arena will open at 3 p.m. Fans are reminded there is a strict limit of one signed item per fan during the autograph session. Full amount of autographs and photos are not guaranteed for all attendees. The autograph event concludes precisely at 5 p.m. so that student-athletes and coaches can proceed to their evening schedule.

Later in the evening, fans can get their first glance at the Louisville volleyball team as head coach Anne Kordes and the Cardinals will host their Red and Black Scrimmage in Cardinal Arena starting at 6 p.m. The scrimmage is also free of charge.

Parking is available in the Floyd Street Garage and around campus.
