Thoughts: I feel like the Ahner brothers have been on Louisville’s roster for like 5 years. I think their story, moving to the states from Japan, is probably what stuck out to me when I first covered them back in 2013. It’s so rare to see that transition so I applaud both of them and their ability to stay on the team as walk-ons.

I predicted a shift last year for Gabe from defense to offense and the roster update appears to confirm the swap. Gabe has some size and if we need more depth anywhere it’s on the offensive line. I feel like I’m repeating myself over and over (19 straight linemen in the countdown will do that) but I honestly believe a lot of the second team spots are up for grabs with those front 5. Not to play spoiler for Day 59 but Gabe’s brother Aaron, who is still listed at defensive end, may have a much larger challenge trying to penetrate the two deep with that front three…they good. Real good
