Thoughts: Last year, as with a few of the defensive ends on the roster, Finesse made the shift to outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme. As a RS Freshman he was once again somewhat pinned down behind some talented outside linebackers and may fall prey to the very talented Devonte Fields on this year’s depth chart as well. I’ve been very high on Finesse as a solid role player since he enrolled and I’m not changing my mind on him due to lack of PT in only one season of eligibility. Finesse got some run last year against Murray State and Virginia and managed to throw a few tackles onto the stat sheet. Since Middleton arrived he has actually dropped 17lb from his official weight, which makes me think he lost some pudge and tightened up his upperbody. Slightly undersized Middleton will need to now add some muscle to be a consistent rush threat on the outside. (Insert joke about using ‘finesse’ instead of power). I’d like to see what kind of fall Middleton has and how he competes with some of the newcomers from 2104 and 2015. One thing is for sure, Middleton, along with the other linebackers, will have to compete to get significant time. The starters are good, the second team is good and some of the young bloods are going to be good. Tighten up the chinstrap.

I think we all have one or two friends we look at now and think… "how in the hell is THAT guy a lawyer/doctor/engineer/dentist/etc”. The same kid who always had the bright ideas which usually ended in someone getting hurt, the police being called, or at a minimum you spending a few days being grounded. Of course for every person like that there are two or three who end up exactly as you might predict…page 4 of the Crime Times. Stay in school kids, and draw inspiration from the sage advice my father always told me…“don’t act like an idiot.”
