Thoughts: After taking a redshirt as a freshman Skylar looked to get some more reps at the tackle position last year, even behind a veteran group up front. While Skylar got some opportunities against Murray State and FIU at both tackle and guard, the experience ahead of him and somewhat inconsistent play kept him off the field at times. As a RS Sophomore now, with a very inexperienced front line, Skylar is expected to step up and land a starting spot most likely moving to right guard permanently. I don’t think anyone is arguing that Lacy has the size to be successful along the line, he just needed some more time and some coaching from Coach K and the graduating seniors. While they got their fair share of criticism at times the last couple years from fans (myself included), we did place two offensive lineman in the NFL (Smith/Miller) who played a significant amount of time at guard here at UofL and a third (Brown) at the tackle, who all probably taught Lacy and the other underclassmen a thing or two along the way. I like Lacy to earn the spot, but I’d also keep an eye on the RS Freshman or one of the incoming lineman to try and grab some reps.

Just to bring you up to speed for those who may be unaware, this is Coach McGee with former Notre Dame basketball star Skylar Diggins. This is also Skylar Lacy making an incorrect assessment.
