The spring games are over, which means the seemingly endless period of time between now and the start of the 2015 college football season has begun. To commemorate the occasion, ESPN's Mark Schlabach has released a post-spring Top 25, which features the mighty Cardinals of Louisville checking in at No. 25.
After going 9-4 in its first season in the ACC, the Cardinals are looking for a quick fix in Year 2. Coach Bobby Petrino brought in a bunch of transfers to shore up his receiver corps and defense. Former TCU star Devonte Fields could provide a better pass rush, and Georgia transfers Josh Harvey-Clemons and Shaq Wiggins should help shore up the secondary. Ja'Quay Williams (Texas A&M) and Jamari Staples (UAB) might help restock a depleted receiver corps.
Louisville's game one opponent, Auburn, checks in at No. 4. Although there's a good chance that the Tigers won't start quite that high in the two major preseason polls, No. 4 vs. No. 25 would certainly generate a great deal of attention on opening weekend.
U of L opponents Clemson (10) and Florida State (15) also make appearances in the top 25, which is headed up by defending national champ Ohio State.
