Cards make ACC history with win over NC State

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville baseball team capped a historically successful regular season in appropriately historic fashion on Saturday. The Cards beat NC State 8-5 to become the first team in ACC history to win 25 conference games, and the first to win all 10 of its regular season series.

Louisville scored three runs in the ninth to provide the difference in the game, two on a clutch single by Logan Taylor. One of the players who scored on Taylor's hit was Corey Ray, who finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored, one RBI and one stolen base.

After recording the final two outs of the eighth inning,  Zack Burdi returned to the mound in the ninth to close out the victory and improve to 5-0 on the season. Making his second appearance of the weekend, Burdi finished with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings of shutout relief.
