The Courier-Journal's Jonathan Lintner was able to land an extremely informative Q&A with noted extraordinary human being Russ Smith on Friday. In the interview, Smith discusses his rookie season in the NBA, his draft process advice for Terry Rozier and Montrezl Harrell, and his upcoming youth basketball camp in Louisville.
Perhaps more notable than all of that is this tidbit:
So, have you finished following everyone on Twitter you want to at this point?
Not at all. My friend, (rapper) Lil B, was able to get to follow a million. I suspect three years from now, I'll be able to get to that point. Then life's going to open up, because I'll have a brand. My name is trademarked. They'll know who I am, and I'll be able to keep up like that.
You have the trademark on Russdiculous?
Yeah, it's trademarked.
Is it recent?
It's been trademarked for a few months now. I'm working on some Russdiculous merch. If it doesn't come out this summer, it'll definitely be out this fall. That's something I'm going to try to get out to the fans ASAP. I know they've been wanting it, especially in Cardinal colors. That'll be really cool.
(Per the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Smith registered his name on Dec. 30 for entertainment, basketball and sports celebrity purposes.)
Please take note, everyone trying to make the Russell Westbrook "Russdiculous" thing happen. There can only be one.
