Louisville beats NC State 4-3 to earn Dan McDonnell career win No. 400

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

In the first game of its final series of the regular season, the second-ranked Louisville baseball team defeated NC State 4-3, and in the process earned head coach Dan McDonnell his 400th career victory.

Louisville had never won an NCAA Tournament game (and had played in just one) before McDonnell's arrival in 2007. They have now been to the three College World Series and are poised for another run to Omaha.

Thursday's win over the Wolfpack was also U of L's 24th in ACC play, matching the league record for conference wins in a single season.

The Cards will have an opportunity to break that record in game two of the series, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. ESPN3 will have the television coverage, and 939 The Ville will be your radio home for the action.

A win on Thursday would ensure that Louisville will go through ACC play winning all 10 of its regular season series.
