Louisville baseball looks to keep rolling as Kentucky comes to town

There is a rare and commendable breed of Cardinal sports fan who, despite all the drama and information overload that comes with March and the NCAA Tournament, keeps up with every pitch of the Louisville baseball team's opening month of play.

For most fans, however, now is the time where they really start to hone in The first regular season meeting with Kentucky, which typically falls on the week of or after the Final Four, is usually a perfect starting point.

The good news if you're just now starting to pay attention is that Dan McDonnell has a team that is completely capable of winning a national championship. The Cardinals will enter tonight's 6 p.m. home game against Kentucky with a 25-7 overall record, and a 14-1 mark in the vaunted ACC, good for first place. U of L is ranked No. 5 in the country, and is coming off a three-game sweep of another top 10 team, Virginia.

Louisville went 1-2 against their arch-rivals last season, but that one victory came in the NCAA Tournament, and resulted in the Cardinals moving on to the Super Regionals while UK went home for the summer. The Wildcats enter tonight's game with an 18-13 record and are looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
