Louisville made a late addition to the 2015 football signing class today by getting a commitment from Mesa CC junior college offensive lineman Kevin Austin. Austin played center at Mesa but could play any of the three interior offensive line positions for the Cardinals in the fall. According to Jody Demling of Cardinal Authority, Austin will have three years to play three once he arrives. Prior to playing at Mesa, Austin spent a year as a preferred walk-on at Auburn.
While the quarterback battle has drawn the most attention for Louisville in spring practice, the most wide open and needy position on the team is the offensive line. Louisville brought in a junior college early enrollee to help (Khalil Hunter). Another two year junior college signee will arrive with Austin (Kiola Mahoni) and all three could wind up being starters when Louisville takes the field against Auburn in Atlanta. Much like the 2014 season, the offensive will probably be a frustrating work in progress early on with Tobijah Hughley and Aaron Epps being the only returning players with much experience.
