Louisville women's team earns No. 3 seed in 2015 NCAA Tournament

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Jeff Walz and the Louisville women's basketball team will make its march to the 2015 Final Four as the No. 3 seed in the Albany Region.

The Cards will open up tourney play on Saturday in Tampa with a 4 p.m. game against 14th-seeded BYU. The game will be televised by ESPN2.

A win in round one would result in the Cardinals facing either site host and No. 6 seed South Florida, or 11th-seeded LSU. U of L was in the exact same situation a season ago when it was a No. 3 seed forced to face sixth-seeded Iowa on its home floor in the second round. The Cards won that game without issue, 83-53.

Perhaps the bigger story in all of this is who else is in Louisville's region, namely top-seeded Connecticut, whom Louisville could face in the regional final. To get there, the Cards might have to go through arch-rival Kentucky, which is the region's No. 2 seed. Western Kentucky was also tossed into the region as a No. 12 seed for good measure.
