A warrant has been issued for former Louisville basketball player Chris Jones, who is being charged with raping one woman and sodomizing another. This according to a report from Andrew Wolfson of the Courier-Journal.
The warrant says that one of the women was hospitalized Sunday and able to identify Jones as her assailant. One of the women is 19 and the other 20, according to the warrant.
Jones, who was dismissed from the team Sunday, is expected to surrender in court on Thursday morning.
The alleged sexual assaults occurred on Saturday night, after Jones, who had been suspended earlier, then reinstated, led U of L to a home victory over Miami.
The next day, the university without explanation said Jones had been kicked off the team, and Coach Rick Pitino said he was "finished."
Obviously you don't want to remark on situations like this until you know the complete story, but if this is even partly true, basketball is the least of Chris' worries.
UPDATE: Some pretty awful additional details from WDRB:
According to the warrants, Jones raped and sodomized a woman on Sunday and was able to identify Jones "because she recognized him as a University of Louisville basketball player" and he told her his name. That woman was examined at the university, one warrant says.
A second warrant says Jones, along with two other people, forced a woman to have intercourse and oral sex. She also identified Jones as a U of L player, according to the warrant. She was taken to University Hospital, where she was treated.
Both women told police they consider Jones a "flight risk," according to the warrants.
U of L police Det. John Tarter took out the criminal complaints against Jones, according to the warrants. Tarter also filed complaints on Wednesday against Jalen D. Tilford and Tyvon Walker, both of whom allegedly raped a woman on Sunday. The complaints filed against those two men indicate three people were involved in the alleged rape but don't specifically mention Jones.
