Louisville recruit Andrew Jones commits to Texas

Louisville's search for a point guard in the class of 2016 won't end with Andrew Jones. The 5-star point guard from Irving MacArthur, TX has committed to Shaka Smart and Texas Longhorns, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.

"Over the past couple months, since the end of July, I've built a strong relationship with coach Smart," Jones told Scout.com. "It was to the point where we were texting every morning. He was sending me motivational quotes about how to be a leader and how to stay positive."

U of L assistant Mike Balado paid a visit last Tuesday to see Jones, who was in attendance on Saturday when Texas upset third-ranked North Carolina at the buzzer. Rick Pitino had planned to visit Jones tomorrow.

If Louisville does wind up landing a point guard from the class of 2016, there's a strong chance that it could be Markell Johnson, a current member of the 2017 class who is exploring the possibility of reclassifying. Pitino has previously said that he'd like to add one more player to a class that already includes V.J. King and Frankie Hughes.
