New, comments

In actual on-field sports news that is cool, the Louisville women's soccer team notched the biggest win in program history Thursday night, toppling No. 1 North Carolina 2-1 in overtime at Lynn Stadium.

The loss was was the first of the season for the Tar Heels (11-1-1, 4-1-0), who had only given up four goals all season heading into Thursday's match. The victory also marked the first time Louisville has ever knocked off a top-ranked opponent.

Here's video of the game-winner from junior Caroline Kimble, which came with just 8 seconds remaining in the first overtime:

The win improved Louisville to 3-2-0 in ACC play heading into Sunday's 1 p.m. home match against Duke. That game will be televised on ESPN3.

Major congrats to Karen Ferguson-Dayes and the entire women's soccer program on Thursday night's win .... and also thank you for letting us talk actual sports, if even for just a brief moment.
