Video coming soon from what was not a happy presser this afternoon.

--It was not an easy film to watch. The defense played extremely well in the first half and then it was the complete opposite in the second half.

--Offensively, it was probably our best game of the year. I was encouraged with the way Lamar played and I thought the offensive line had its best game of the season. It was a step in the right direction for the offense.

--We're really looking forward to the Boston College game, which is a very important game for us. They are a very very good defense.

--Yesterday was a hard day for a lot of guys watching that film, but you have to do it. You need to have days like that if you want to get better.

--We watched the film and we showed them all of their mistakes. There were guys who were not playing hard or fast in the third quarter, and we can't have that. In the end they have to look their teammates in the eyes and also look themselves in the mirror. We can't accept it. They can't accept it. Their teammates can't accept it.

--The biggest thing in coaching is to confront and demand improvement. We've already confronted what happened on Saturday and now we'll demand more in practice.

--You can't have tackling and walking to the ball like we saw at times on Saturday. I think the other thing is that we got tired. We couldn't get off the field on third down and because guys got tired that resulted in some mental mistakes.

--There were a few plays where Devonte Fields didn't play as hard as he needed to, and certainly the Dalvin Cook long touchdown run was one of them. He came to me and sought me out to say that it would never happen again. It's great that he did that, but this is a show-me world and now he needs to show me that it's never going to happen again.

--I think Keith Kelsey is going to be okay. He's going to have to go through the protocol that's required, but he did go through some of the exercises without issue, so we were encouraged by that. He wasn't diagnosed with a concussion, but we are going through that protocol.

--Keith Brown will be out the first half because of the targeting call.

--I thought Trevon Young did a lot of great things. He put a lot of pressure on the quarterback and might be our best outside rusher this season, so we've got to get him out there more.

--Alphonso Carter did practice last week and made the trip to Tallahassee. He might be able to play this weekend.

--JaQuay Savage did not play on Saturday because guys played faster and harder than he did during practice last week.

--All we can worry about right now is the next game and this week that's Boston College. They are very good up front and obviously their defense has been outstanding. They are well-coached and they play extremely hard.

--I've never really had a game like that. I felt really great about where we were at halftime and I loved the way the offense responded to their first touchdown in the third quarter. Then it got long.

--I thought Lamar did a great job of standing in the pocket and delivering some great throws. He got hit high and low on that last touchdown throw to Quick and still delivered a great ball. The other thing was that his receivers really made plays for him.

--Lamar has to be aware of the blitzer on the play where he fumbled. That's how you grow up and learn. You saw a 5th year senior quarterback who had been through his struggles throw the ball away and not take a sack or turn the ball over, and then you saw a true freshman make his mistakes. Quick fell on the interception, but the fumble is the one where you've just got to see that and throw the ball away.

--James Quick is real explosive, he plays really hard and competes out on the field. I was happy about his performance. He recognized the matchups he could exploit and he took advantage of them.

--Whether we were 2-4 or 4-2 we'd be talking about how we want to put the first part of the season behind us. We do want to get the seniors to a bowl game. The best way to do that right now is just to focus on Boston College. We've got to play four full quarters on Saturday.

--This is a bigger challenge than when we were 0-3. We had two weeks to prepare for that game, we felt like we were right there and then it all fell apart and we didn't play as hard as we should have. So this week is extremely important for us. We have to respond the right way and have a big week of practice.

--(On the 2nd half letdown) In all my years of coaching, I've never seen that. I really just don't get it. It wasn't all effort, we made some make other mistakes like on the second touchdown pass, but the lack of effort is something I just don't understand.

--Sometimes when you really want to make a point you speak a little softer.

--Boston College's run game is really going to challenge our defense. We expect a lot of runs and a lot of two tight end offensive sets.

--We've played great football teams, but we need to grow up and figure out how to win those games.
