Another year has come and gone and another ‘Cardinal Countdown’ is in the books. For the last 100 days I've covered each member of the Cardinal football team and hopefully during that journey I've provided some insight or at the very least, humor, along the way. Just want to say ‘thanks’ to all those who contributed this year with thoughts or comments, even as we painfully trudged through the dog days of O-linemen. I enjoy doing these posts each season and hope to continue doing so in the years to come as long as time allows and they continue to be entertaining for others to read. Last year I did a ‘Top 10’ list, highlighting the posts that I either enjoyed writing the most or the one’s I found the funniest. Feel free to take a look back through the best of 2014…
10. Day 11: Playing With My Emotions.
9. Day 98: Nice Sticker, bro.
8. Day 45: Shanks for Nothing
7. Day 18: Babies, Jersey’s and Toilets..Oh my
6. Day 5: Giving Up
5. Day 70: But Wait, There’s More
4. Day 65: Hidden Agenda
3. Day 34: Playoffs? Playoffs..?!?
2. Day 41: Hide Your Kids
1. Day 81: A ‘Chart Topper’ for The Summer
Petrino has been preaching it since he got here. Grind. You’ll see it on the players t-shirts, hanging in the locker room, plastered all over the weight room… Grind. It’s not always about the destination, but the journey you take getting there. Did you do what you needed to do in order to be fully prepared when your time comes, when your number is called? When we kick off the football season tonight a lot of those questions will begin to be answered, and a lot more will play themselves out during the course of the season. I’m not worried about Bobby leaving or his reputation among the national media. Nothing I do will change either of those things, but what I can do is enjoy the moment, enjoy the time we have. The University of Louisville Cardinals are about to start the 2014 football season playing against the Miami Hurricanes as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. It makes me laugh just thinking about it.
We've come a long way folks. Take it all in.
The time is now.
Go Cards.
