#7 Reggie Bonnafon

Thoughts: Reggie was one of the first commitments of the 2014 class; making it known he was going to be a Cardinal in January of last year. Bonnafon, a longtime Louisville fan, was at the Sugar Bowl victory and has said repeatedly since that time how excited he is to be playing for his hometown team. Reggie obviously committed to play for Strong last year, but when Bobby showed up Bonnafon was one of the top targets he felt they needed to keep committed. Petrino sold Reggie on his plan for the future and even after Strong made a late push to try and steal him away, Reggie remained a Cardinal. There’s been lots of chatter during the summer and especially the last few weeks about how impressive Reggie has looked for a true freshman running an enormously big playbook. Reggie impressed McGee and Petrino so much that within the first week of camp he was up and running plays with the veterans. I don’t think there is any doubt that Will Gardner is out starting QB, (was officially named starter yesterday) but Petrino has come out and said that Bonnafon will see the field, and they will likely have a few special packages they run just to make sure his skills are put on display. With Will only being a Sophomore and Reggie making it known he only wants to play QB it could be interesting to watch how things unfold, but if he continues to progress as we've already seen/heard this fall I just can’t envision a scenario where Reggie isn't on the field a significant portion of the time next year.
