Louisville football recruiting: Jaylen Smith commits to Louisville

Louisville's recent recruiting success continues as, in addition to G.G. Robinson, the Cardinals and Bobby Petrino got a late night commitment from receiver Jaylen Smith.

Louisville hired Bobby Petrino to bring his offensive wizardry and excitement back to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Late Thursday night, a big recruiting piece for the offensive future fell into place as receiver Jaylen Smith committed to Petrino and his staff. Reportedly, Smith is one of the offensive targets that Petrino wanted most for the class of 2015. Late Thursday night, Smith committed and gave Louisville a third explosive receiver for future Petrino offenses.

Louisville already has commitments from Oklahoma receiver Dahu Green and slot receiver Traveon Samuel. Jaylen Smith gives them another big receiver with plenty of speed. Smith is a big boost to the 2015 recruiting class at a position of serious need (Louisville loses Michaelee Harris, DeVante Parker, Kai De La Cruz, and Eli Rogers after this season). Smith is rated a composite three-star recruit by 247 Sports and the #26 player in Mississippi. Smith listed offers from Ole Miss, Nebraska, and Arizona State among others.
