2013-14 Card Chronicle LCPT Championship: The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee Vs. FedEx

One will become the first Least Cool Person ever to not be an actual person, and the other the first non-John Calipari runner-up since 2009.

For all the (uncool) marbles...

THE NCAA TOURNAMENT SELECTION COMMITTEE

031614_ron_wellman_640x360_medium

HOW THEY GOT HERE:

Defeated Mike Mayock 72%-28% (1,002-383) in the quarterfinals
Defeated Marc Summers 83%-17% (955-201) in the semifinals

RAP SHEET:

--Dealt Louisville a No. 4 seed when the major debate heading into Selection Sunday was whether or not the Cards deserved to be a one seed.

--Also placed Louisville in the toughest region in recent memory, with their arch-rival and perhaps worst matchup in the field just two rounds away.

--Selection Committee chair Ron Wellman said that Louisville "looked like a one seed" and admitted that the Midwest was the toughest region, but never really offered any legitimate justification for either occurrence.

--A tournament which was atrociously seeded overall culminated with a seven and an eight seed playing for the national title, easily the highest combined seeding of any championship game in tournament history.

VS.

FEDEX

HOW THEY GOT HERE:

Defeated UK Tattoo Guy 86%-14% (1,399-234) in the quarterfinals
Defeated USA Today 67%-33% (809-404) in the semifinals

RAP SHEET:

--Broke the frame on Russ Smith's Final Four jersey, which he had sent to his father in New York so that Russ Smith Sr. could hang it in his barber shop.

--When the jersey was sent back so that FedEx could "investigate the claim" that the frame was broken, FedEx promptly threw the jersey away.

--FedEx never found the jersey, and did nothing more than tell the Smiths they were "sorry."

The polls will close in 48 hours.
