Louisville's first opponent in Omaha will be a familiar one.
The Cards will begin their run at a College World Series championship Saturday evening at 8 p.m. against arch-rival Vanderbilt (46-19), which knocked off Stanford in game three of their super regional Sunday afternoon. ESPN2 will have the coverage.
U of L and Vandy have developed a heated rivalry in recent years, and play annually during the regular season for a traveling barrel trophy. The Commodores own a lopsided advantage in the all-time series, but the Cards will ride into Omaha owning a three-game winning streak over Tim Corbin's club.
This will mark the fourth time in the past six seasons that the two programs will have met in the NCAA Tournament. Vanderbilt was sent to regional play in Louisville in both 2009 and 2010, and the Cards swept the first two games of the three-game super regional in Nashville a year ago.
Here's your updated bracket, with three spots in the CWS still waiting to be claimed.
This should be a fun couple of weeks.
