For the first time since 1994, Louisville has a first team Associated Press All-American.
Russ Smith picked up the honor on Monday, which allows him to claim consensus All-American status after also being honored by the United States Basketball Writers Association, Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News, among others. He is also U of L's first consensus All-American since Clifford Rozier in '94.
Here are your AP All-American teams:
FIRST TEAM:
- Doug McDermott, Creighton
- Shabazz Napier, UConn
- Russ Smith, Louisville
- Sean Kilpatrick, Cincinnati
- Jabari Parker, Duke
- Nick Johnson, Arizona
- Nik Stauskas, Michigan
- T.J. Warren, N.C. State
- Andrew Wiggins, Kansas
- Melvin Ejim, Iowa State
Congrats to Russ on an incredible season and a remarkable career. I think it's safe to say that you are, and will likely always be, the most unlikely Cardinal All-American of all-time.
