Russ Smith may not be the AAC Player of the Year, but he's still on track to be Louisville's first consensus first team All-American since 1994.
The latest honor for Russ came from the United States Basketball Writer's Association, which named him to its first team on Wednesday. Should Smith add first team honors from the Associated Press and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, he would become Louisville's sixth consensus All-American. The elite list currently consists of Charlie Tyra (1956-57), Wes Unseld (1966-67; 1967-68), Darrell Griffith (1979-80), Pervis Ellison (1988-89), and Clifford Rozier (1993-94).
