On national signing day, Bobby Petrino said the staff had purposefully held on to a handful of scholarships in hopes of finding players to sign after signing day. Tomorrow, Louisville will reportedly use one of those open spots to sign Louisville defensive lineman Tae Thibodeuax (6'2, 270). Thibodeaux is a consensus three-star recruit that likely projects at defensive end in Louisville new base 3-4 defense, though it's possible over time that he could grow into a defensive tackle as well.
Thibodeaux chose Louisville over Arkansas and did so rather unexpectedly. On signing day, Thibodeaux began the day with just a letter of intent from Arkansas, but after Louisville coaches reached out, Thibodeaux decided to slow down his decision process and take an official visit to Louisville this past weekend. After his visit, Thibodeaux was expected to visit Arkansas as well, but announced today that his Louisville visit was enough to make him want to be a Cardinal and sign tomorrow.
Thibodeaux becomes Louisville's 21st commitment for the class of 2014. The Cardinals are reportedly still pursuing a pair of junior college defensive linemen in Pio Vatuvei and David Moala. Both could visit this weekend and possibly finish off the class of 2014.
