Much has been made in recent weeks of what the opening line in the much-hyped Louisville-Kentucky basketball game would be, and now both Cardinal and Wildcat fans have their answer.
To the surprise of many, the game opened in Vegas as a Pick 'Em on Friday. In a very short amount of time, however, UK has been bet up to a 4.5-point favorite.
While the opening line appeared to surprise the vast majority of basketball fans in the Commonwealth, it probably shouldn't have. Vegas lines typically go nearly hand-in-hand with the pregame predictions of statistical guru Ken Pomeroy, and at the moment, Pomeroy has Kentucky winning tomorrow's game by a final score of 64-62.
Also of note is the fact that if this spread holds, it will be the first time since March 2, 2013 (at Syracuse) that Louisville has been an underdog in game. All told, U of L has been the favored to win its last 59 games, and 83 of its last 84.
