Since the release of SB Nation's top 100 college basketball players list -- which had Montrezl Harrell at No. 3 -- a week ago, two of the biggest network names in sports have released their own lists which also have U of L's new Doctor of Dunk ranked in the top five.
CBS actually one-upped us and went with Trez at No. 2, slotting him behind only Duke freshman Jahlil Okafor.
2. MONTREZL HARRELL
Harrell, a junior, is now clearly The Guy for the Cards after the graduation of Russ Smith, who we'll miss dearly. The likely future top-10 pick put up 14 points and 8.4 boards per game last season, and it's hard to see those numbers not going up. Menacing yet fun. --Matt Norlander
ESPN then busted out its top 10 on Wednesday, which saw Harrell land at No. 4.
The big man easily could have gone pro after a strong sophomore season, but staying will be good for the Cardinals and for Harrell. He is a terrific rim blocker and overall defender, and with more experience, he could produce an offensive game to match.
Clearly the rival fans who said that SB Nation ranking was the product of a tainted homer perspective were on to something.
