It's Jan. 9 and the Louisville basketball team is still without a quality win. That painful truth was made even harder to stomach Thursday night by the fact that the team depriving the Cards of a solid victory was the much disliked Memphis Tigers.
The Tigers waltzed into the Yum Center, led for the entirety of the first half, bounced back from a six point second half deficit, benefitted from an atrocious goaltending call in the final minute, and then taunted the home crowd after pulling off a 73-67 upset.
And then apparently this happened.
Pastner still taunting fans. Challenged one to "come on down" before radio show on the court. Clearly this is not The Price is Right.

according to @paulnrogers1, Memphis coach Josh Pastner got into shouting match with UofL fans before doing his postgame radio interview

Well then.
Luke Hancock attempted to play hero for Louisville, scoring 20 points and dishing out five assists, but the Cards were again done in by a lack of frontcourt presence and porous defense at key moments. U of L got just three points and seven rebounds from the combination of Mangok Mathiang and Stephan Van Treese, while Memphis bigs Shaq Goodwin and Austin Nichols combined for 25 points and 15 boards.
Rick Pitino spoke to media briefly after the game, saying the main issues with his team are an unwillingness to defend and a lack of leadership. The first point was driven home by the fact that Memphis shot 50.9 percent from the floor Thursday, and had all five of its starters score in double figures.
Overall, just a really weird night. The crowd seemed worn out from this exhausting week, the players seemed out of sync and a touch lethargic, everyone was kind of waiting around for that "boom" moment....and then the game was over and Louisville had lost.
This was not a good one to drop. Here's your box score:
