Rutgers is likely to be down a key player when they host Louisville on Saturday.
Jerome Seagears, the Scarlet Knights' junior point guard, is still recovering from a sprained ankle that forced him to miss Tuesday's win over Temple, and will likely force him to miss Saturday's game against the Cards.
"He tried yesterday and couldn't go through practice," Rutgers coach Eddie Jordan said. "It may be in his best interest to give him a week off, because we don't play again until next Saturday. I don't want him to go out there practicing today and re-aggravating it and you tack on another two or three extra days. He's made some progress, but my idea is to keep him off the ankle until next Saturday."
RU's most trusted ballhandler and distributor, Seagears is averaging 9.5 points and 4.2 assists per game. As he did against Temple, Jordan will likely turn to leading scorer Myles Mack (16.1 ppg) and reserve D'Von Campbell to split the point guard duties.
Louisville is 11-1 all-time against Rutgers, and has won its last seven games against the Scarlet Knights.
