Bobby Petrino got a huge pick-up in Florida Running Back/Safety Marlon Mack tonight, this According to Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal. The Cards, who recently paid Mack an in-home visit, were able to beat out Michigan for the former UCLA commit.
Mack is an athletic runner who fits the prototype for Bobby Petrino's system. He is taller with a frame that should put him somewhere in the range of 210-215 pound range.
Mack does have the potential to play defense, but most feel he will end up at running back. I personally think it's a huge positive that he could probably play either at a high level. With Dom Brown and Michael Dyer leaving after this season, running back depth will be important. Corvin Lamb has battled injuries throughout his career and Brandon Radcliff will need competition from guys like Mack and L.J. Scott.
Bringing in a kid with offers from UCLA and Michigan is exactly what this recruiting class needed. Stabilizing a class that lost a lot of steam over the last few weeks is essential. A nice power back is literally a momentum builder for this recruiting class.
