Louisville tied the American Athletic Conference record for margin of victory in a league game by humiliating South Florida 86-47 on the Bulls' home court Wednesday night. The record the Cards tied was the same one they set six days ago when they beat Houston by 39 at the Yum Center.
It's a little hard to know what to talk about or what to take away from the game we just watched, because I'm not sure I've ever seen a basketball team as disinterested (he said it!) as USF was Wednesday night. It was so bad that it started to seep over into Louisville's play late in the first half. There were a few possessions where you cold almost hear Russ Smith's body language saying, "this isn't even any fun if you don't at least try." Thankfully, the Cards came out with an increase in energy after halftime and made the final score look as one-sided as it deserved to be.
Fat Cut-Up Patriotic Reserve Wayne Blackshear was once again impressive off the bench, leading Louisville with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Four out of the five Cardinals who did start scored in double figures, including Montrezl Harrell, who recorded yet another double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
David Levitch fought through some insensitive "Justin Bieber" cheers from the remaining home crowd at the Sun Dome to fearlessly record an assist. U of L, which is winless in games where Levitch has been unavailable, improved to 10-0 this season in games where the freshman guard makes an appearance.
Here's your final box score:
