Two members of Charlie Strong's recruiting class of 2013 will not be with the team when it begins fall camp on Tuesday.
Strong confirmed on Monday that Jacksonville linebacker Donel Elam has not qualified and will not be a member of the team this season. Elam, a three-star recruit with offers from South Carolina and West Virginia, became the second member of U of L's 2013 class when he committed all the way back in Feb. of 2012.
The other member of the class who still has eligibility concerns is cornerback Chucky Williams, who flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Louisville back in January. Listed by scouting services as an "athlete," Williams (6'2, 190-pounds) played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback, safety, and returned punts and kicks during his senior season at Champagnat Catholic in Hialeah, Fla.
Williams spent most of his summer on the U of L campus, and is still hoping to receive NCAA clearance before the start of his freshman season.
Louisville's first day of fall camp is today, with the Cards hosting an open practice at 5:15 p.m.
