As expected, Louisville was the near-unanimous No. 1 choice in the American Athletic Conference preseason media poll released Tuesday morning to kickoff the league's media day festivities.
The Cards garnered 28 out of a possible 30 first-place votes, with Cincinnati snagging the other two. No word on who the two media members who didn't vote for U of L were, but Herbstreit and Phelps are the early front-runners.
This is the second straight year that Louisville has been the preseason pick to win its conference, a stark contrast from Charlie Strong's first two years at U of L when the Cardinals were picked to finish last in consecutive summers.
Here's the entire preseason AAC poll:
1. Louisville (28)
2. Cincinnati (2)
3. Rutgers
4. UCF
5. USF
6. Houston
7. UConn
8. SMU
9. Temple
10. Memphis
