Bill Hancock, the father of Louisville senior Luke Hancock, lost his battle with cancer on Monday.
Playing in front of his father, Luke Hancock was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four, where he helped lead the Cardinals to the national championship. According to the Associated Press, Bill Hancock had been dealing with Cancer for three years.
"We caught him in Dallas and he went on to Colorado as we had talked about and as his father wanted him to do," [Van Hancock, Luke's mom] said, calling her son's opportunity to compete for a spot on the national team a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." She said Luke had discussed his plans with his father and family before leaving for the tryouts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Luke and his family.
