Terrence Williams Leaves China

Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE

Terrence Williams' career in China has come to an unexpected end.

The Guangdong Southern Tigers, who currently sit on top of the standings in China's top-level CBA league, announced Monday that Williams is leaving the team for the season due to a death in his family.

In an unexpected turn of events, the league leading Guangdong Southern Tigers just lost the services of former NBA lottery pick Terrence Williams. Williams who along with Ike Diogu and the return of prodigal son, Yi Jianlian, have led the Tigers to the best record in the league and a #1 seed in the upcoming CBA playoffs which is just under 3 weeks away.

Williams, due to a recent death in the family, will be unable to return to the team, due to the sensitive nature of the issue, the team allowed Williams to leave. Williams was outstanding in his time with the team, as he averaged 17.9ppg and 3 rpg and 4 apg while playing just under 27 minutes a game. Losing Williams will be a huge blow to a team that was looking to regain that championship form, which saw the Tigers win 7 of the last 9 CBA championships. There has been no word of a replacement, if any.

T-Will confirmed the news on Twitter.

Best of luck to him in whatever his next move is.
