Teddy Bridgewater: Second Team All-Conference

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The American Athletic Conference announced its awards for the 2013 football season on Wednesday, and the most notable item was the fact that Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year.

That's correct, a conference which claims Teddy Bridgewater as one of its own named someone other than Bridgewater as its best offensive player.

Just for reference...

Blake Bortles: 239/351 (68.1%), 3280 yards, 22 TD, 7 INT
Teddy Bridgewater: 268/382 (70.2%), 3523 yards, 28 TD, 4 INT

But Teddy's defense had a bad half one night in October so clearly he doesn't deserve the award.

There were seven Cardinals who DID earn first team All-ACC accolades - Jake Smith, Jamon Brown, DeVante Parker, Marcus Smith, Hakeem Smith, Charles Gaines and Calvin Pryor. Going to go ahead and guess that this is the first time that three players from the same team with the same last name have all been named first team all-conference.

Bridgewater, the Big East's Offensive Player of the Year for 2012, was one of four Cardinals who picked up second team honors.

More on the individual awards in a bit, but for now, here's your complete list of all-conference honorees:
