The Associated Press released its preseason top 25 on Thursday, and just as they did in the preseason coaches' poll, Louisville checked in at No. 3.
The Cards are ranked just behind preseason No. 1 Kentucky and No. 2 Michigan State, and just ahead of Duke and Kansas. No. 13 Memphis and No. 18 Connecticut are the other American Athletic Conference members to earn preseason rankings.
The defending national champions received 14 out of the possible 65 first-place votes, 13 less than Kentucky and eight less than Michigan State. Duke received the other two first-place nods.

Why does the preseason No. 1 team in the country have an underscore where their "previous ranking" is supposed to be? Surely that must be a mistake.
