Charlie Strong Addresses NFL Rumors

Andy Lyons

A day after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that "it would be a surprise" if Louisville head coach Charlie Strong was not a leading candidate for a handful of NFL head coaching vacancies after this season, Strong addressed the report as well as coaching rumors in general.

"I've never ever thought about the NFL," Strong said. "I've always been around the college game and always been around watching young people grow and develop and taking them and recruiting them and seeing them, each and every year they mature and grow up. That's all I've ever been around."

The Cardinal front man is no stranger to coaching rumors this time of year, in fact, it's starting to become somewhat of a late fall tradition in the Derby City.

"Rumors always start this time of year," Strong said. "I didn't know anything about it until (U of L SID Rocco Gasparro) told me about it. My focus is South Florida and I am just worrying about them."
